Company Information – Field Experience

Information & Background on Elavon

I completed my field experience assignment this summer virtually with Elavon, a global leader in processing payments in the payment industry. Backed by their parent company, U.S. Bancorp, Elavon, based in Atlanta, GA, is consistently rated in the top 5 of payment companies in the world. With over 3 billion transactions globally every year worth more than $300 billion, Elavon has created a strong global presence. The company serves over 1.2 merchants (clients) in over 30 countries around the world. Elavon serves as the processor/acquirer (middleman) between the Card Associations (i.e. Visa) and the merchants (i.e. Macy’s, Delta Airlines). With specialized experts and utilizing the world’s best technologies for payment processing, Elavon is the leading payment solutions provider for airlines and one of the top five providers for hospitality, healthcare, retail and public sector/education.

There are many different departments that make up Elavon that are vital to the company’s success. All work together to develop the best payment options for their customers. In 2012, Elavon was awarded the “Best Merchant Acquiring Initiative for International Payment Processing Platform and IP Gateway” by the Card and Payment Awards for their International Processing Platform. During my field experience, I had the opportunity to work one on one with Dana Poynter, Senior Vice President Global Association Management & Compliance, in the Compliance department.
